So after a month of ups and downs, I am approaching May with a little spring in my step. (See what I did there) I am brimming with positivity and passion for my life and everything it includes.
Having a week in Malta, childless and care-free, was incredible. Don’t get me wrong, I missed the little monsters so much it hurt my heart a little, but some time and space from the banalities of everyday life was just the thing that Andy and I needed.
Sometimes it is so easy to get dragged down with worries, stress and negativity in your day to day life. I was worrying that Marcus wouldn’t enjoy his birthday (he did), that my car wouldn’t pass it’s MOT (it didn’t) and that I wasn’t able to blog as I just didn’t have the time (I didn’t) But you know what, it all worked out. Yes my car might have died a sorrowful death, but it wasn’t the end of the world. My beautiful best friend kindly ferried me to and from work everyday, to the garage and back and wherever I needed. Back off, she’s my bestie and you can’t have her. There were so many times that I saw the negative and when you focus on that it becomes hard to see any way out.
But there always is. It might not seem like it, it might be a little harder to see, but there is always a way out, a positive that will come out of the negative, a way to move onward and upwards. Trust me, I have been there on those dark days where it really doesn’t feel like there is, but you will get through it. Reach out to your loved ones, take the step in a positive direction and hold your head up high.
So I thought I would put together a few of my favourite quotes to help put that spring back in your step:
‘Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow’ – Helen Keller
‘Calling someone fat doesn’t make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn’t make you any smarter. All you can do in life is try and solve the problem in front of you.’ – Cady, Mean Girls
‘Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.’ – Rafiki, The Lion King
‘No matter what you’re going through, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you’ll find the positive side of things.’ – Demi Lovato
‘You can’t live your life for other people. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if it hurts some people you love.’ – The Notebook
‘It is not our abilities that show what we truly are… it is our choices.’ – Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
