Our honeymoon, 2 years after our wedding, took place in Malta. We stayed in the Seashells at Suncrest resort in Qawra after it’s massive face-lift in 2015 and it was just exquisite. It is directly on the sea front, with steps down the rocky shoreline into the crystal blue ocean. It literally took my breath away on our first morning.
We took a hop on hop off bus tour of the whole island, it was €20.00 per person and I can honestly say it was such good value and such an amazing idea. There were so many parts of the island that we wanted to visit, but not spend a whole day there, and this let us visit nearly all of them. There are like 9 buses running 30 minutes apart and you can just hop on and hop off wherever you like!
We visited the beautiful Spinola Bay, the Blue Grotto, Valletta and Marsaxlokk – a beautiful fishing village with an adorable market and some of the best fish I have ever eaten.
We ate at Ir-Rizzu which was directly facing the bay. The food was fresh, vibrant and utterly delicious. Andy had the Swordfish, which I was incredibly envious of, until I saw my fresh shellfish platter. It was TO.DIE.FOR. Seriously, I don’t think I have ever eaten anything so good. And I eat a lot.
We also took a boat trip to The Blue Lagoon in Comino. Now if you are visiting Malta, or thinking of visiting, you HAVE to go here. It was breath-taking. I was literally speechless at just how blue and beautiful the sea was. We went in the first week of April, so the sea was pretty damn cold, but I didn’t care. I did have goosebumps in places I didn’t know you could get goosebumps though!
On the Friday we were just chilling by the hotel pool, making the most of our all inclusive cocktails and soaking up some of the lovely Maltese rays, when the hotel’s professional photographer appeared, well who were we to turn down the opportunity to channel our inner Vogue? I obviously jumped at the chance to have some snazzy, professional photos taken, Andy was not so keen, he isn’t a fan of photos but hey, happy wife = happy life!
I love these shots <3
I was a bit of a naughty blogger for a lot of the week and didn’t take loads of snazzy snaps, I was just having too much fun being child free, responsibility free and super full of yummy food and drinks!
I think this has to have been one of my favourite holidays I have been on, I was so completely blown away at just how beautiful Malta was. I wasn’t expecting anything quite so picturesque and so much fun!
Best honeymoon EVER. <3 <3
